Preamp
A preamp is a device that is used to amplify a low-level input signal. They can be found in a wide range of audio equipment, including microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and standalone preamp pedals. They typically feature a range of controls, such as gain, EQ, and phantom power, that allow the user to shape the sound of the input signal.
Preamp pedals are standalone effects pedals that are designed to be used with electric guitar or other instruments. They are typically used to boost the signal from the instrument and shape the tone before it is passed on to an amplifier or other processing gear. Some popular examples of preamp pedals include the Tech 21 SansAmp, the BBE Sonic Stomp, and the MXR M133 Micro Amp.
