DI Box
A DI box, or direct box, is a device used to connect an electric guitar or bass to a mixing console, recording device, or other type of audio equipment. DI boxes are designed to convert the high-impedance, unbalanced signal produced by an electric guitar or bass into a low-impedance, balanced signal that can be easily transmitted over long distances without signal loss or interference.
DI boxes are commonly used in live performances and recording sessions. There are two main types of DI boxes: active and passive. Active DI boxes contain an internal amplifier and require a power source, such as a battery or an external power supply, to operate. Passive DI boxes do not contain an amplifier and do not require a power source.
