I tested it against my BOSS MD-2 and it comes freakishly close!
The main differences are (at least in the models I got!) an a bit higher noise floor (especially with single coil pick-ups it made quite some difference) as well as a different behaviour of the volume poti:
It starts lower but seems to increase a bit faster so it catches up on full volume (the feel is worse though as it is not really linear).
So if the – very affordable – MD-2 is still too expensive for you, the HD300 from Behringer is definilty something you should test out!
